About Our Icon

The Dutch Boy icon is a legacy of two sixteenth-century Dutch chemists. These men created a superior paint production method called the Dutch Process. Their work set the standards for quality and beauty for centuries to come – a legacy that lives on with Dutch Boy Paint.

The Dutch Boy “Boy”:

Ironically, Michael E. Brady, the nine-year-old boy who became the inspiration for the famous Dutch Boy trademark, was not Dutch but an Irish American neighbor of the artist commissioned to create the logo.
